Acquirer

An acquirer is a bank or a financial institution. They ensure that money is moved from one account to another. In this case, from your customer's account to your business account. They are also the ones who check with the cardholder's bank whether there is enough money on the card for the purchase, and whether the card is valid.

You, as a store owner, must enter into an agreement with an acquirer (an acquirer agreement) in order to accept payment cards. You can easily apply for the acquirer agreement as soon as you have created a Freepay user.

Which acquirer you should choose depends on many things. Among other things, which types of payment cards you want to support. It is also possible to have more than one acquirer.

An acquirer agreement is an agreement between you as a business owner and an acquirer (e.g. Elavon Trust Payments, Clearhaus, Shift4 or NETS). It enables you to accept payment cards in your webshop, and it ensures that you can receive your money when a customer has paid. You need an acquirer agreement to accept payments.

If you do not have an acquirer agreement, you can send an application directly via the Freepay administration and have it processed quickly by the acquirer - so you can get started with your business.

Yes, you absolutely can. You can for example use Elavon, Trust Payments, Clearhaus, & Shift4 for handling Visa and MasterCard and NETS for handling Dankort.

No, unfortunately not. MobilePay distinguishes between online commerce and physical commerce, so you will not get a QR code or a MobilePay number that you can use in your physical store or at trade fairs.

If you need MobilePay for both online commerce and physical commerce, you need to make 2 separate agreements with MobilePay.

Yes, you can use your existing acquirer agreement with e.g. Elavon, Trust Payments, Clearhaus and Shift4 or NETS at Freepay without any problems. It is easy!

Log in to Freepay.dk with your Freepay user and find the menu item "Acquirers". Here you choose to link an existing agreement or create a new acquirer agreement.
* Remember you must contact your acquirer and inform them that you wish to move over to us.*

*** However, please note that if you have an agreement/subscription with another payment gateway, you must remember to cancel it. ***

You must remember to cancel your agreement/subscription with your current payment gateway. This also applies to MobilePay. There is no reason to pay for something you will not be using going forward.

On the other hand, you should NOT cancel your acquirer agreement with e.g. Elavon, Trust Payments, Clearhaus, Shift4 or NETS. You can continue to use it at Freepay. We make it easy for you.

If you run multiple webshops under the same CVR number, it is in some cases necessary to enter into multiple acquirer agreements.

If your business sells different types of products/goods that do not fall under the same product and industry category, then an acquirer agreement must be made per domain/webshop.
An example of this is a business that under the same CVR number has a webshop selling clothes and a webshop selling travel.

The above does not apply, however, if all webshops fall under the same product and industry category (NACE and industry codes). Then you can get by with making one acquirer agreement that covers multiple domains/webshops.

Example of "same industry": One shop sells shoes and another sells t-shirts.

You can set up an agreement with MobilePay through Freepay.

When you have created an account with us, you need to link an acquirer and a credit card to your account.

Additionally, you need your company's logo in this size: 250x250 px and in png or jpg/jpeg. Max size 2MB.

No, MobilePay cannot be used without an acquirer. An acquirer is e.g. Shift4. You need an acquirer agreement to be able to accept payment cards. If you do not have an acquirer agreement, you can easily set one up via Freepay.

It depends on your agreement and needs. By default they have weekly payouts.

**In addition, Shift4 only pays out when the balance on your account with them is above 100 EU. **

When Clearhaus pays out your money depends on which settlement period is set in your contract.

The most common is weekly settlement, and here payout is every Thursday.

Additionally, when you sign up with Clearhaus through us, you are pre-approved. This means you can acquire almost immediately.

There are some limitations on the agreement:
The agreement is only pre-approved until it has gone through Clearhaus' final review.
When you have transactions for approximately DKK 1,500 with them, they typically do the final acceptance, and then payout is activated.

Every week - usually Wednesday – you will receive a notification about the payments you received the previous week for international card types (Mastercard, Visa, etc.).

The payout to your account takes place on Friday of the same week. Depending on which bank the money is transferred to, it takes up to two banking days before you can see the amount in your account.

To obtain an acquirer agreement, your webshop must meet the following requirements - the following information and elements must be clearly visible to the customer:

Company terms and conditions Your customers must actively accept your company/webshop's terms and conditions before the purchase can be completed. This must include a link to the terms and conditions.
Draft Terms and Conditions

Company subscription terms The same applies if your company/webshop sells subscription-based services or products. Subscription terms for products/services must be actively accepted by the customer before payment. The customer must also be able to see a link to the terms and conditions.

Easy access to terms and conditions etc. The customer must have easy access to your company or webshop's delivery terms, right of withdrawal and return policy.

Product descriptor The name of the product descriptor, which will appear on the customer's bank statement. This is important to be aware of if your webshop has a different name than your company (i.e., if the descriptor differs from the webshop's domain).

Customer service/support Easily accessible information about customer service or support, both email and phone number.

Personal data/privacy policy Customers must have easy access to personal data/privacy policy.

Products/services An accurate description of your products/services, including prices and fees.

Contact and company information/CVR number.

Company's physical location at the time of payment.

Visible payment card logos If you offer payment with Visa, Mastercard, Dankort, MobilePay, Google Pay and/or Apple Pay, the logos must be visible on your webshop. They are most often displayed at minimum at the bottom of the webshop.

You can set up an agreement with Google Pay through Freepay. Once you have created an account with us, you need to link an acquirer to your account. Then you can link Google Pay to your account and receive payments.

Clearhaus can pay out in DKK, EUR, SEK, NOK, GBP and USD. They can only pay out in one currency per account (API key).

If payouts in multiple currencies are needed, sub-accounts can be created under the same application, but with different API keys.

You can set up an agreement with Apple Pay through Freepay. Once you have created an account with us, you need to link an acquirer to your account. Then you can link Apple Pay to your account and receive payments.

How Apple Pay works. Apple Pay only works on Apple hardware (iPhone, iPad or Mac.) and only via the Safari browser. It further requires that the end user has set up their payment card on one of the devices.

When you receive an order in your webshop, the amount is automatically reserved on the customer's card.
To withdraw the money from the customer's card, you need to perform a capture.

You do this in your shop module or at your gateway. You must not perform a capture before you have shipped the order.

If a change of ownership/acquisition of a company is made.
A new acquiring agreement will in most cases need to be set up.

Please contact your current acquirer regarding the further process.

You can create an agreement with AnyDay via their website https://da.anyday.io/webshop.

Once you have created an account with us, you need to connect an acquirer to your account. You can then connect AnyDay to your account and receive payments.

** To use AnyDay your transactions must be over 300 DKK and your product range must comply with AnyDay's compliance policies. For further specifications, see https://www.anyday.io/terms-conditions/shopper Term & Conditions for users. **

It depends on the type of business.
For online retail, typically once a week, unless otherwise agreed.
For subscriptions it will be daily with a 3-day delay.
For POS merchants with low risk, however, it can be daily payouts.

Their Underwriting determines it on a case-by-case basis based on risk assessment of the customer.

You always pay for the current period of 30 days from the cancellation date

If you wish to cancel Mobilepay, you must do the following.

2: Go to Settings, where you find the acquirer section..
3: Under Wallets click Edit next to MobilePay.
4: Under MobilePay click the red button (Cancel MobilePay)

If you wish to cancel Google Pay, you must do the following.

1: Log in to My Freepay (freepay.dk)
2: Go to Settings, where you find the acquirer section
3: Under Wallets click Edit next to Google Pay / Click on Deactivated.

If you wish to cancel Apple Pay, you must do the following.

1: Log in to My Freepay (freepay.dk)
2: Go to Settings, where you find the acquirer section
3: Under Wallets click Edit next to Apple Pay / Click on Deactivated.

3D Secure Fee.

No fee is charged for test payments (when test-mode / test-mode is enabled in the plugin settings). No 3D Secure lookups are performed here.

There will be a fee associated with 3D Secure lookups, regardless of whether the transaction is approved or declined.

When we receive card data from your customers, an external service is typically used to check whether the customer needs to be forwarded to 3D Secure. That service costs money, and it is that cost the fee helps to cover. (Some acquirers charge this fee themselves)

Following 3D Secure, it may happen that the acquirer or bank declines the transaction, if for example there are no funds on the card.

An AML policy (Anti-Money Laundering policy) is a strategy and a set of procedures that financial institutions and other businesses implement to prevent, detect and report money laundering. The purpose of an AML policy is to ensure that the company complies with the relevant laws and regulations regarding combating money laundering.

A typical AML policy will include the following elements:

1: Risk-based approach: Assessment of the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing based on customer type, geographical location, products and services.

2: Know Your Customer (KYC): Procedures for identifying and verifying customers' identity, including collection of identification documents and other relevant information.

3: Transaction monitoring: Implementation of systems and processes to monitor customers' transactions for suspicious activities that may indicate money laundering or terrorist financing.

4: Reporting of suspicious activities: Procedures for reporting suspicious transactions to the relevant authorities, often called Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).

5: Internal control and audit: Regular review and audit of AML policies and procedures to ensure that they are effective and comply with legislation.

6: Education and training: Regular training of employees in recognizing and handling risks of money laundering and terrorist financing.

7: Documentation and retention: Preservation of relevant documents and information for a specific period in accordance with legislation.

An effective AML policy helps protect the company from being exploited for money laundering and financing of terrorism, while also ensuring that the company maintains its integrity and complies with legislation.

Also specify which of the following permissions/functions the users should have:

Admin - Users have visibility across all sections of the Insights portal. Administrator users also have permissions to any functionality you specify for them (i.e. referral and chargeback management). The Admin profile can only be selected as a single profile, but other profiles can be combined. This user can also see the connection information.

Reconciliation - These users are only permitted to access the Statements section of the portal. They can view and download the statements accordingly.

Processing - These users have access to the Processing Activity section to search and view transactions on their account. Additionally, they can be configured with the referral transaction functionality to allow these users to perform referral transactions (Refund, Void, Capture) from the Processing Activity screen on the Merchant module.

Chargeback - These users only have access to the Chargebacks section. They can search and view chargebacks and follow up on the status of the representment and dispute. Additionally, configuring the chargeback management functionality enables users to perform chargeback management actions, such as accepting and representing chargeback cases.
