Get ready for Freepay
Freepay is a payment gateway that makes it easy, fast and secure to accept online payments on your webshop. User-friendliness is a top priority. Both for you, who will use the payment gateway for your webshop, and for your customers when they shop online with you.
It is easy to integrate Freepay with your webshop. Our skilled developers have created thorough documentation for you, so you can get started integrating your webshop with Freepay. Below you can read what you need for this to happen.
API key
When you need a payment gateway on your webshop, you need an API. API is an abbreviation for 'Application Programming Interface'. The API allows two machines or programs to communicate. So when you have an API for your webshop, your webshop can communicate with the payment gateway Freepay via the API. But for this to happen, Freepay needs to verify that your webshop is who it claims to be.
This is where the API key comes into the picture. It stores information that Freepay can read and thus know it is safe for the systems to communicate. A kind of advanced username and password.
Integration code
To get Freepay up and running with your webshop, you need to do the integration. You need to get the two systems to communicate. You do the integration by using an API, and a little code needs to be written to do the integration. It doesn't take very long, but it's a good idea to get a developer to help you through the process.
Trust Payments and Elavon as acquirer
To use a payment gateway on your site, you need an acquirer. An acquirer is responsible for withdrawing the money from your customer's account and paying the money to you when the order has been shipped to the customer.
At Freepay, we have good agreements with Trust Payments, Shift4, Elavon and Clearhaus, which are some of the largest acquirers in the Danish payment market. If you already have an acquirer agreement with one of these, you can bring it over to Freepay. Otherwise, we will be happy to help you make a good agreement with one of them.
